Introduction to the Bei Canal: The Bei Canal starts from the Beidian Gate at the end of Datianping, and winds north through the fertile fields of Pingchou for 25 kilometers before returning to the Xiangjiang River. It is the approach channel for ships traveling between the Hunan and Li rivers.
