Introduction to Pelourinho Square: Pelourinho Square is the largest building complex built during the European colonial rule. Many buildings have ancient Portuguese architectural styles. Colonial-era buildings painted in pastel blues and pinks stand across from the flagstone plaza. There are still some torture tools used to torture slaves in the corner.
