Introduction to the National Museum of Anthropology: The National Museum of Anthropology of Mexico was built and opened in September 1964. Its predecessor was the Antiquities Commission of the University of Mexico in 1808. The complex patterns carved on the stone outer walls of the museum come from Indian civilization, and the overall design is a model of modern Mexican architecture.
