Xi’an Hongmen Banquet Site Tourism Guide

Xi’an Hongmen Banquet Site Tourism Guide
Xinfeng Street

Scenic spot introduction:

Xi'an Hongmenyan Site is adjacent to Lishan Mountain in the south and Weihe River in the north. It is located on the main road from Tongguan to Chang'an. In front of the site is a one-kilometer-long cliff, which is cut in half like a knife in the middle. The north and south openings are like city gates. Hence the door's name. According to legend, at the end of the Qin Dynasty, Xiang Yu and Liu Bang competed for the world. Liu Bang advanced to Guanzhong, defeated the Qin army, captured Ziying, and garrisoned at Bashang; while the powerful Xiang Yu later entered Guanzhong and garrisoned at Hongmen. In 207 AD, Xiang Yu followed the plan of counselor Fan Zeng and held a banquet at Hongmen in an attempt to take the opportunity to kill Liu Bang, so he staged a scene of the "Hongmen Banquet". The famous allusion "Xiangzhuang's sword dance is intended for Pei Gong" refers to this story . The existing ruins are built of blue bricks, with an apricot-yellow flag flying on a ten-meter-high flagpole. A yurt-like military tent was built to the north of the platform, with the "Chu Gao Military Flag" hanging high at the door. The banquet scene at that time was simulated inside the tent. The military tent is made of fiberglass, and there are scenes such as "Xiang Zhuang dancing with his sword, Fan Kuai breaking into the tent, Pei Gong escaping from the banquet, and Fan Zeng sighing", which vividly express the tense atmosphere of Hongmen. The Hongmen Banquet Site is located in Hongmenbao Village, Xinfeng Town, Lintong District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, 2.5 kilometers away from the Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. It is the northernmost tourist spot in the Lishan Mountain scenery.
