Nanchang University is the only "211 Project" key university in Jiangxi Province jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province. It is currently the strongest institution of higher learning in Jiangxi Province. The school is located in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, a famous historical and cultural city in the south of the Yangtze River that is known as "a treasure of nature, a place of outstanding people" and a "city of heroes". Its predecessor can be traced back to the Jiangxi Public Medical College founded in 1921 and the National Chung Cheng University founded in 1940. Today, It has developed into a comprehensive university that "penetrates liberal arts, science, industry and medicine, and integrates industry, academia and research" covering many disciplines such as science, engineering, medicine, liberal arts, economics, and management.Location:
Nanchang University currently has 5 campuses: Qianhu Main Campus, Qingshan Lake Campus, Donghu Campus, Poyang Lake Campus, and Fuzhou Campus, covering an area of 8,036 acres. The school's discipline and professional system, arts, sciences, medicine, and engineering are reasonably laid out and developed in a coordinated manner. Currently, 12 disciplines are offered. There are 100 undergraduate majors in various categories, including 8 first-level disciplines authorized for academic doctoral degrees, 45 first-level disciplines authorized for academic master’s degrees, and 5 postdoctoral research stations. Nanchang University has 12 affiliated (directly affiliated) hospitals at various levels, including 6 national Class IIIA large comprehensive hospitals and 1 Class IIIA dental hospital. The Nanchang University Library has a collection of more than 3.8 million volumes. It is a member library of the China Higher Education Documentation Security System (CALIS), CALIS Jiangxi University Document Information Service Center, the Science and Technology Novelty Search Workstation of the Ministry of Education (L25), and the Jiangxi Medical Science and Technology Information Center.
