Chuxiong Prefecture Museum is a local comprehensive museum integrating cultural relic collection, exhibition education, academic research, and cultural tourism. Its design and architecture make full use of the height difference of the slopes, are laid out along the mountains, and integrate the Yi folk houses with modern architectural style design. It not only highlights the strong local ethnic characteristics, but also reflects the grandeur of modern architecture. It is one of the landmark buildings in Chuxiong City. The museum has rich collections, especially the unique collection and display of paleontological fossils, bronze cultural relics and Yi costumes. It is a window to understand the history and culture of Yizhou.

Attractions distribution:

Chuxiong Prefecture Museum is located outside the south gate of No. 471 Lucheng South Road, covering an area of 60 acres. The museum has basic exhibitions such as the preface hall, animal specimen hall, paleontology hall, historical cultural relics hall, and Yi ethnic group hall. There are 2 mobile exhibition halls for temporary exhibitions, as well as the Luojiang Art Museum and the film and television lecture hall, which display more than 6,000 cultural relics of various types. Including the world-renowned Wanjiaba Bronze Drum, Lufeng dinosaur fossils, Yuanmou Man fossils, etc.

How to get there:

Bus route: Take Route 1 or Route 13 and get off at State Museum Station.

Self-driving route: Exit from Chengjiaba Toll Station of Anchu Expressway, cross Yingbin Bridge, and drive along Weichu Avenue → Lucheng North Road → Lucheng South Road.
