Isla de La Juventud (Spanish: La Isla de La Juventud) is the second largest island in Cuba. It is polygonal in shape, with a winding coastline and many small bays. Robert Louis Stevenson, a representative writer of the "New Romanticism" in the 19th century British literary world, wrote a famous novel, Treasure Island, which is unique and full of magical and romantic colors. The Treasure Island described by him is now the special administrative region of Cuba: Isla de La Juventud. The island is covered with tropical pine forests, with charming beaches and waters, rich in flora, fauna, seafood and minerals, and a beautiful ecological environment.

Model Prison Ticket price: 3CUC (as of May 2009), students and foreign students can enter for free with valid ID.

Travel Tips

Best time to visit:

Cuba has a mild subtropical climate with two seasons throughout the year. The rainy season is from May to October, usually with short showers in the afternoon; the dry season is from November to April of the following year, when the climate is cool and it is the best time to travel.
