Day1: Jiefangbei + Hongya Cave

It was already past 3 pm when we arrived at Chongqing North Railway Station. We took a taxi directly to Longfor Times Street. After resting at the hotel, we went to have dinner. During this period, the two little ones almost refused to go out because they could see the light rail running downstairs from the hotel room window. They were very excited to see it and counted how many trains they watched.

After dinner, we took Line 1 and got off at Jiaochangkou Station. Within a few steps, we reached the Liberation Monument.

Every city has its own landmark buildings, and every landmark building is a condensation and testimony of a city’s history.

In 1940, the Nationalist Government moved the capital to Chongqing and designated Chongqing as its companion capital. It also built a monumental building in Chongqing to represent the nation's victory in the war of resistance - the "Spiritual Fortress". After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Chongqing decided to build the "Anti-Japanese War Victory Monument" on the site of the original "Spiritual Fortress" to commemorate the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. On November 30, 1949, when Chongqing was liberated, the Southwest Military and Political Commission decided to renovate the "Monument to the Victory of the Anti-Japanese War". Hongya Cave was originally Hongya Gate, which was the closed gate among the nine open, eight closed, and seventeen gates in old Chongqing. It was also a military fortress and the earliest and most developed trading port from the ancient Ba Kingdom to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Nowadays, this is a Chinese cliff city built along the cliff, which is dominated by the "diaojiaolou" style that is the most traditional architectural feature of Bayu.

You can see Qiansimen Bridge from Jiefangbei, and our location is at the top of Hongyadong. To go to Hongyadong Scenic Area, you need to take the elevator or take the stairs down.
