Travel Notes | Visiting the Former Residence of Zhang Xueliang in Tianjin (Part 2)

The painting table placed in the hall is composed of moiré stone and wood to commemorate the lifelong friendship between the young marshal and the famous painter Zhang Daqian. The tourists gathered in small groups and discussed for a long time in front of the painting table, but they could not identify the type of wood used to make the painting table.

The painting table displays precious group photos of Zhang Xueliang, Zhang Daqian, Zhang Qun and Wang Xinwei. The display board on the wall next to the painting table outlines the five stages of the young marshal's life before he was thirty-four years old in chronological order.

The room directly behind the display is Miss Zhao Si's bedroom. The mini heater placed on the bed is very interesting. I call it an "antique heater".

Right above the bed hangs the young marshal's favorite old photo of Miss Zhao Si (as shown below).

Walking out of the bedroom, opposite is Miss Zhao Si's reception room. There is a beauty couch on the left hand side of the entrance. The color is the popular green at the time.

The mandarin duck chair placed in the center of the room is novel and unique in shape, symbolizing that the young marshal and Miss Zhao Si will always be dependent on each other and will never leave.

There is a door on the window side of the reception room, which leads directly to the military and political meeting hall. The military and political conference hall is the room where the marshal and the provincial governors discuss important military and political matters. The phoenix totem carved on the roof echoes the two dragons playing with beads on the conference table, which is majestic and solemn.

In 1928, the young marshal listened to the suggestions of Hu Shizhi, the editor-in-chief of "Ta Kung Pao" and others, and decided to change the flag and return it to Chiang Kai-shek. This first major decision to promote the reunification of the whole of China was made in this room.

One side of the military and political meeting hall is connected to Miss Zhao Si's reception room, and the other side is connected to the young marshal's study. The young marshal corrects important documents and reads newspapers here.

The balcony on the second floor is open to the public. Pushing open the wooden door on the window side of the military and political meeting hall, we came to the balcony on the second floor. This is the balcony where the young marshal and Miss Zhao Si admired the scenery together in the oil painting mentioned at the beginning of the previous article.

It just so happened that God was doing something beautiful, so I stopped and looked into the distance. There are many tall buildings in the distance, while the small buildings nearby are exquisite and delicate.

The only place on the second floor that I didn't visit is the bathroom. Interested friends can explore on their own during the visit.
