Introduction to the Winter Palace Square: All the buildings on the Winter Palace Square were built in different eras, by different architects, and in different styles, but the whole remains wonderfully and harmoniously unified. In the center of the square is the Alexander Column, erected to commemorate the victory over Napoleon.
