Nanjing | The ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, which niche attractions are worth visiting?

I took some time off from my busy schedule to visit Nanjing three times.

Departs on Friday and returns on Sunday.

I really like this little short trip~

Not too tired, not too rushed, relaxed and healing.

Since this is my third visit, I have already visited all the popular attractions that I should have visited before, such as the Presidential Palace, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, Xuanwu Lake... So this time I specially selected some relatively niche (but not all) places. Go, FYI.

Zhonghua Gate / Ming City Wall / Laomen East / Confucius Temple / Qinhuai River

 

Take the subway and get under Zhonghua Gate . After walking for a while, you can see the moat/city wall gate. The sense of history comes to your face. The weather was perfect that day. It looked like a painting when I took a photo. I really want to put this moment into watercolor. . The city wall can be climbed, tickets are required.

 

After viewing the city wall from China Gate, you can reach Laomendong by walking slowly. Laomendong is an important part of the Qinhuai scenery belt of Confucius Temple. There are antique buildings on both sides of the street, with everything you need to eat, drink, play, and live. However, just like the antique buildings in most cities, you will get tired after seeing too much, but it is definitely worth coming. It is very lively at night~

 

tips:

• Opposite the Red Mansion in Laomendong, there is a duck blood vermicelli soup that is very delicious. We ordered duck blood vermicelli and chicken soup dumplings, delicious! Rich! Later, I ate at a duck blood vermicelli restaurant and instantly felt much better.

 

• Pioneer Bookstore (Laomen East Branch) is built in an old building. It is very distinctive. It has two floors and a sense of age. It is right at the entrance of the Zhonghua Gate, so it is easy to find. Just looking at the door, I thought it was a historical residence, but I couldn’t tell it was a bookstore. Only when I entered did I realize that it was a completely different place.

After passing through the entire Laomendong Pedestrian Street, we walked for a while and reached the core area of ​​Confucius Temple. Next to it is the Qinhuai River. There are also attractions such as the Imperial Examination Museum. However, we went there in the evening and the venues were closed, but the scenery was better than It's better during the day. The neon lights on the Qinhuai River are flashing, the time is intertwined, and many tourists line up to take the boat. The night view is really good.

 

 

Provincial Art Museum / Meiyuan New Village / Six Dynasties Museum / Xinjiekou

 

Because it’s the third time, I’ve already visited all the popular attractions, so it’s time to explore some niche attractions. As a literary girl, my favorite is all kinds of art galleries, museums and memorial halls. And a whole street in Nanjing: Changjiang Road is very suitable for a literary and artistic trip. The main attraction is the Presidential Palace, and nearby are art galleries, libraries, 1912 Art Street, Meiyuan New Village Memorial Hall, Six Dynasties Museum, Jiangnan Weaving Museum, etc.

 

 

• Art Museum: Free, swipe your ID card to get tickets

• Six Dynasties Museum: Admission fee is 26, there are not many exhibits, you can learn history

• Meiyuan New Village: Free, visit by swiping your ID card. It was interesting to receive patriotic teachings and visit the original location of the office. The interior decoration of the house remains as it was back then, which is very real and gives a sense of time travel.

After visiting the museum, I was a little tired and hungry, so I wandered slowly to Xinjiekou for food (it takes about 40 minutes to walk from the Presidential Palace to Xinjiekou, and you can take the subway for one stop, which I prefer Rampage).

 

The good thing about being in a small city is that you can go to most places by walking/biking...

NTU / Pioneer Bookstore (Wutaishan Main Store) / Yihe Road

 

I got off at the Yunnan Road subway station and wandered around Nanda. It was quiet on weekends as there were few people. International students gather here, so there are many good-looking coffee shops and restaurants nearby. I searched for a random one on Dianping, followed the navigation and found a human coffee on the corner of Nanda University. The store is small, but it is quite popular and the price is moderate. It is said that it is a coffee shop during the day and a bar at night.

 

 

I always feel that famous universities are must-visit places when traveling. Although I have never studied here, I really like the atmosphere on the university campus. Students are walking in groups of three or three, either in a hurry or leisurely. , in the coffee shop on campus, there are people writing papers on computers, people working on math books, and there are acres of grass and woods.

 

Starting from Nanda, you can walk 15 minutes to one of Nanjing's literary and artistic landmarks, Pioneer Bookstore Wutaishan Main Store. The main store is located in an underground garage. I was surprised by the size of the store. I was even more shocked by the collection of books. Maybe there are no books that I can’t find here, only books that I can’t think of? It's almost like a library. The cultural and creative fields are very comprehensive, and I even had a lecture salon when I went there.

The Yihe Road building complex of the Republic of China is also nearby. I followed the navigation to explore it, but found that most of the buildings were surrounded and there was no way to see the appearance. Although that area is indeed quiet, clean, and tree-lined, if you just want to see the architecture, you can give up. Returning a little disappointed~

Nanjing Museum

The most anticipated highlight is to take the subway to the Ming Palace Museum and walk 10 minutes to the entrance of the museum. It is free to visit. You can make a reservation in advance or use your ID card to make a reservation on the spot. You can directly swipe your ID card to enter. There are not many that can be called museums. The Nanjing Museum does have rich and exquisite collections and is of extremely high historical significance. The entire visit will take at least half a day.

 

Highlights:

• There are so many treasures that we can’t fit them all, so we need a special showroom divided by dynasty, with a pile of bottles and jars neatly placed.

• The Republic of China Pavilion is quite unique. The interior is made into a pedestrian street imitating the Republic of China era. You can take photos, eat and drink.

Pity:

• The textual introduction to the historical part is a bit lacking, so you still need to do your own homework.

• The digital museum is relatively backward and not very visible.

Of course, I think Nanjing Museum is definitely a must-visit in Nanjing! If you have plenty of time, you can stop by and visit the ruins of the Ming Forbidden City next to it.

Other places worth visiting include Xuanwu Lake / Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum / Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum / Presidential Palace, etc., but because I have been there before, I didn’t go again this time~
