Beijing Guozijian Street Travel Guide
Dongcheng Area
Beijing’s Guozijian Street stretches from Yonghegong Street in the east to Andingmen Inner Street in the west, spanning 669 meters. The Qianlong Emperor lauded it as “the foremost district of the capital, and the Imperial Academy the foremost place.” As one of the few surviving ancient lanes in the city, it is lined with imposing archways and rows of ancient scholar trees. Flanked by a variety of courtyards and temples, the street exudes an antiquated, tranquil charm that captures the essence of old Beijing.
